Annual Ryegrass
Corral, a tetraploid annual ryegrass, was developed from superior
selections out of a mixture of Bison and another significant tetraploid
species. In early growth phases it exhibited promising genetic
characteristics. To improve the seed stock base, Corral was continuously
inspected and cycled for numerous generations prior to its introduction
by the Olsen Seed Company.
It has proven to be a high yielding forage grass with excellent
resistance to stripe, crown and stem rust. In addition, it has
demonstrated rapid re-growth after cutting, especially when watered.
Corral has shown to be extremely palatable to stock and therefore
can help produce enhanced weight gain.
In comparison tests with Gulf annual ryegrass, Corral produced
significantly more forage mass during the same growth period and
also produce 30% greater seed pounds per acre. Corral’s
seed is large and mostly awned, with a heavier bushel weight than
most other varieties. These characteristics develop more forage
mass per acre and thus help develop larger and healthier stock.
Adapted for use wherever forage annual ryegrass is desired, Corral
will help you maximize your forage yields and reduce your overall
feed costs significantly. It can be used with confidence to improve
stock growth and increase profitability for your grazing acreage.
